Your Dog
Friendships we make in life often prematurely end
But 'til the day that she dies your dog will be your friend
Your dog will love you and from you never part
Your bond with your dog an affair of the heart
Your dog a true friend and true friends are rare
Of your social rank she is one who doesn't care
For a meal and a few words of kindness each day
In love and devotion you she will more than repay
Your dog you can trust and your trust she will not betray
That is more than most of your human friends that you can say
On your dog's love for you doubtless you can rely
To most of your human friends such does not apply
Some humans you thought were friends about you may lie
But your dog will love you 'til the day she will die.
